    • Liberal bloggers want to say 'bye' to Bayh

      Posted by Jeff from Feeds.feedburner

ncreasing speculation about the vice-presidential prospects of Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana is stirring strong interest among backers of Senator Barack Obama and not all of it is positive. Some prominent liberal bloggers have gotten behind an online push that amounts to a reverse draft of Mr. Bayh, a moderate Democrat who campaigned with Senator Barack Obama in Indiana last week and is widely viewed as a serious contender for the No. 2 slot on the Democratic ticket.

Dana Milbank quits Olbermann over disputed Obama quote

      Posted by Jeff from Rawstory

"For nearly a week we'd been waiting for him to offer a correction or an explanation for his column from last week in which he apparently reported an Obama quote without the full context that turned the meaning of the quote inside-out," Olbermann continued. "We had decided not to have Dana on this news hour again until this was cleared up, and sadly, after some very happy years, he's apparently chosen to make that cloud permanent."

    • Bob Schaffer's Son May Face Discipline At School For Racist Facebook Page

      Posted by Jeff from Feedproxy.google

Looks like its not only Colorado Senate Candidate Bob Schaffer (R) whose troubled by his son's Facebook page.

      From the Dayton Daily News:

University of Dayton officials said Tuesday, Aug. 5, they are considering charging student Justin Schaffer for a violation of the Standards of Behavior for posting offensive information on his Facebook page.

The 19-year-old son of Republican Senate candidate Bob Schaffer of Colorado on Monday apologized for an entry that had the words "High Five ... Who's Gay" over a photo of a waving Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. It also had a picture of the Pyramids with the words "Slavery Gets (expletive) Done."

UD said the Code of Conduct standard calls for students to respect all members of the community and the community at large.

Sister Annette Schmeling, vice president of student development and dean of students, said she will have an initial conversation with Schaffer about the postings and "explore the ways his Facebook page is not showing respect."

"We are addressing it and we expect to begin the adjudication process before classes start on August 20," Schmeling said in a written statement.

Over at the main TPM blog, Josh has a pretty thorough summary of the implications a "Slavery Gets **** Done" image has on a candidate who has previously been tied to sweat shop labor in the Mariana Islands.

Official: Richardson to be commerce secretary

I like Richardson and believe he has a meaningful place in this administration, but Commerce Secretary? What's the expertise? Do you agree? And if so, where do you think Richardson is better suited?

if her decades of failing to secure the Mexico-AZ border are any indication, then she should do a real bang-up job securing the whole country

Obama advisers: Bush era war criminals will walk

I think it’s time to say no to this. If we supported Obama to bring about change, then we have to insist that’s what he delivers

Obama's Transparent Presidency: Weekly YouTube Addresses

Obama will cause more of a recession. He wants to implement all kinds of programs. The money has to come from somewhere. We already know he is going to raise taxes on the very companies that provide jobs to the people. In order for those companies to afford the increase, prices will go up. People will buy less. Employees will get laid off. Welfare will be at an all time high. With the US Gov handing out checks, there will be a larger influx of immigrants (legal and illegal) which will put even more strain. McCain would NOT raise those taxes and would create incentives to stimulate job growth which would obviously get the economy going. Can it be explained any more simple?

The only fear I have is an economical fear. A total collapse of the world economy. I have absolutely no fear of any country’s military aggression. I do have a fear thatourr country is going into a severe recession or depression. The mismangement of our economy and our getting off the gold standard will be the cause of it. It will not only cause a severe reciession in the US but the world as well. It has already started… I am totally out of equities and are in all cash positions. Others would be wise to do the same. As far as Obama is concerned, he will will do a better job the anyone else who could have been selected.
