Olbermann: Palin the one 'pallin' around' with terrorists

      Posted by Jeff from Rawstory

Olbermann -- who has often been accused of displaying a pro-Obama bias and of making sometimes inappropriate comments -- attacked Palin in response by pointing out that she has her own questionable ties to the Alaska Independence Party, of which her husband was formerly a member and to which she has spoken. The founder of the AIP has been quoted as saying, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government, and I won't be buried under their damn flag" and "I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

Dana Milbank quits Olbermann over disputed Obama quote

      Posted by Jeff from Rawstory

"For nearly a week we'd been waiting for him to offer a correction or an explanation for his column from last week in which he apparently reported an Obama quote without the full context that turned the meaning of the quote inside-out," Olbermann continued. "We had decided not to have Dana on this news hour again until this was cleared up, and sadly, after some very happy years, he's apparently chosen to make that cloud permanent."

    • Olbermann on NBC Primetime this week

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

‘Countdown’ is rocketing right now over at MSNBC — its ratings are going through the roof,” said Phil Griffin, senior vice president of NBC News. (In July Mr. Olbermann’s show averaged 721,000 viewers, an increase of 88 percent over last July, according to MSNBC.) Mr. Griffin added, “The world has changed, and I think people have come in line with the smart, focused approach he has on the show.”

    • Can Keith Olbermann straddle the line between news and opinion?

Posted by Jeff from Huffington Post

Olbermann knows to leave his opinions at home when he anchors events, said Phil Griffin, NBC News senior vice president. "Keith's an adult," Griffin said. "He can tell when it's appropriate to express himself in a commentary and when to be a journalist. That's one of his strengths. He knows exactly the tone and his role when he's doing anything."

I tend to agree. It appears that many reporters are more likely to exagerate the news in an attempt to gain attention.  There is more garbage (sensationalism) being presented and very little in the war of factual news reporting. There is very little factual and non-biased news being reported. It appears that most are opinionated. Opinions only belong on the editorial page.

I don’t know. It is difficult to know what is BS or what is legit. Many seem to have a bias and a disrespect or aversion to tell the truth.

I wholeheartedly support the decision. Far too many reporters are reporting half truths or taking what is said our of context possibly because of political bias. I am saddened to see that he has chosen to take that direction. It would be interested in knowing why he has taken that position.
