      "The Dalai clique is scheming to take the Beijing Olympics hostage to force the Chinese government to make concessions to Tibet independence," said the People's Daily, the main mouthpiece of the Communist Party. The Tibetan spiritual leader called the accusations against him "baseless," asserting that he supported China's hosting of the summer games.

      Protests led by Buddhist monks against Chinese rule in Tibet turned violent Friday, with shops and vehicles torched and gunshots echoing in the streets of the ancient capital, Lhasa. A radio report said two people had been killed.

    After watching an appalling video of stray cats and dogs being stuffed into wire cages like sardines, dropped off the side of trucks, and skinned for their fur, it's easy to see why Amanda Beard felt the need to shed light on the situation... hope it reduces the suffering and grim fate of future animals.

    What’s the matter, you thought the Chinese government was nice?

    Think of the most oppressive government action you can.

    Then check to see if China has done it.

    You’ll find it has.
