The show of defiance - which took place on the anniversary of a failed anti-Chinese uprising in 1959 - raised tensions in the Himalayan region, as the world spotlight shifts to Beijing's often harsh rule ahead of the Olympics.

- Volunteering For The 2010 Olympics

  A few weekends ago, I volunteered at a children’s camp, and it was a great experience. It was exciting to be around so much energy and be involved with such a great group of kids. The camp’s leaders were amazing - a dynamic group of people with personalities on all sides of the spectrum. After a great weekend of camp, the other leaders and I were talking about our experiences and I was asked: “So, do you volunteer often?”

After watching an appalling video of stray cats and dogs being stuffed into wire cages like sardines, dropped off the side of trucks, and skinned for their fur, it's easy to see why Amanda Beard felt the need to shed light on the situation... hope it reduces the suffering and grim fate of future animals.

Think of the most oppressive government action you can.
Then check to see if China has done it.
