    • Rights group hits China on treatment of migrants

Posted by Jeff from Boston Globe

The report cataloged a variety of deprivations suffered by the estimated 1 million to 2 million migrant workers employed on construction sites before the Summer Olympics in Beijing: a lack of safety equipment, crowded and unhygienic dormitories, no medical care, arbitrary fines by bosses, and unpaid wages.

Hundreds of monks protest in Tibet

Posted by Jeff from Guardian UK

Hundreds of Tibetan monks have taken to the streets of Lhasa in the biggest protest against communist rule in almost two decades, it emerged today. Posted by Shemuses from Globe and Mail

Beijing embarked on a four-day experiment on Friday to see if taking 1.3 million cars off the city's streets would substantially reduce air pollution at next year's Beijing Olympics. Volunteering For The 2010 Olympics

      Posted by Orato

The camp’s leaders were amazing - a dynamic group of people with personalities on all sides of the spectrum. After a great weekend of camp, the other leaders and I were talking about our experiences and I was asked: “So, do you volunteer often?”

Amanda Beard Nude Olympic Anti-Fur Protest Shutdown

After watching an appalling video of stray cats and dogs being stuffed into wire cages like sardines, dropped off the side of trucks, and skinned for their fur, it's easy to see why Amanda Beard felt the need to shed light on the situation... hope it reduces the suffering and grim fate of future animals.

Rights groups bemoan lack of Beijing protests

    Communist dictatorship suppresses dissent.

What’s the matter, you thought the Chinese government was nice?

Think of the most oppressive government action you can.

Then check to see if China has done it.

    You’ll find it has.
