    • Davis is right to go for Gold

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

"Someone's going to see what a loser you are." - that's apparently what Shani Davis' mother was overheard saying after he failed to qualify for Short Track. Clearly, a skater winning the first Winter Olympic gold by an African American - deserves great credit.

    • Olympics look like GOP Convention

Posted by Billbar from Columbus Dispatch

Bryant Gumbel has some harsh words for the XX Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. ‘‘Try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the games look like a GOP convention." "Face it: These Olympics are little more than a marketing plan."

Amanda Beard Nude Olympic Anti-Fur Protest Shutdown

After watching an appalling video of stray cats and dogs being stuffed into wire cages like sardines, dropped off the side of trucks, and skinned for their fur, it's easy to see why Amanda Beard felt the need to shed light on the situation... hope it reduces the suffering and grim fate of future animals.

Rights groups bemoan lack of Beijing protests

    Communist dictatorship suppresses dissent.

What’s the matter, you thought the Chinese government was nice?

Think of the most oppressive government action you can.

Then check to see if China has done it.

    You’ll find it has.
