      Livin' La Vida Low Carb

      Posted by Orato

With shows like Big Medicine premiering on The Learning Channel, I’m afraid there’s going to be a trend of gastric bypass surgery going mainstream. I am so fearful that we have gotten to the point in our country where we look at surgery as a first option, rather than as a last resort. I don’t think enough of the doctors have educated themselves about all the natural ways that people can lose weight...

      Hypocrisy

      Posted by Orato

Sometimes I’m embarrassed to believe in God. I know God exists. I know God does not judge. I know that by calling those who believe in God who do judge hypocrites, that I am being judgmental and hypocritical. But do they recognize the quality in themselves? I’ve emailed churches to ask for help with sex worker services in Surrey and had my emails ignored. I’ve gone to church alongside adulterers who are “holier than thou,” as they say.

      Looking For A Date?

      Posted by Orato

It's just my personal opinion - he didn't act alone” were the words uttered by a 36-year-old Giselle Ireson in Thursday's session of court. Ms. Ireson, who lived in the Downtown Eastside at various times in her life and supported herself as a sex trade worker, testified that as she was walking past the Patricia Hotel on Hastings Street in the early evening of late 1998, she saw a blue Chevrolet car parked in the lot. She approached the vehicle to see if the occupant was looking for a date...

Ethan Crough lives in San Francisco. While he used to work for the Department of the Environment instructing schools how to recycle and compost, he is currently a stay-at-home dad. He is also a ‘little person,’ as are his wife and young girl. Crough has seen the show Little People Big World, and while he’s not a huge fan of reality television, he sees...

    • All roads led to Rome for the world’s biggest family reunion

      Posted by Orato

Since more than 300,000 pilgrims from all over the world were expected to attend the 2002 canonization of Blessed Josemaría Escrivá in Rome, I did not expect to see anyone I knew there. The crowds would be just too big to find anyone, and my plan was to stick close to my family members and try not to get lost in the maze of streets. So imagine my surprise and delight as we encountered an astonishing number of friends from the Philippines, friends we hadn't seen in years.

The High Price of Twinkies: Driven By a Demon Called The Inner Fat Kid

      Posted by Orato

I was a timid little kid. So much so that I’ve often wondered if my caesarian birth simply sprang me from that comfy womb before I was ready. By the time I was halfway through elementary school, I had managed to shield myself from the growing number of bullies with a growing armor of fat... Eventually I came to feel terribly isolated and freakish. There was only one kid in class fatter than me. Little solace; I saw my own misery in his. My parents tried to help, but it came to nothing.

The Pickton Trial - Day Two Of Gina's Testimony

      Posted by Orato

I walked into court today hoping to listen more impassively than I did yesterday. I had an idea about what Gina Houston would be talking about today, and I felt safer in the fact that it could not be any worse than the assault my senses got yesterday. I had reflected yesterday evening on my life and the people I knew, both past and present, and I looked at them the way others might perceive them. In my immediate circle, I have a dear friend who was just found not guilty of murder...
