Child Of The Revolution: Inheriting Iran's Prizes And Faults

      Posted by Orato

I was born two years after the revolution, the same year Iraq invaded Iranian frontiers and triggered an 8-year war. I'm what they call the “child of revolution” or sometimes “child of war.” Having experienced the bitterness and problems of the war and the limitations of living in a society of revolutionary Islamic teachings, I can say my generation has seen it all.

Shades Of Elvis: Living Like The King

      Posted by Orato

I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was a little kid and I’ve been impersonating him since 1994; I did a few impersonations in high school and then I discovered Karaoke in 1992. One night, I’d done a song called “It’s Only Make Believe” by Conway Twitty, and people thought Elvis recorded it – He never did record it, though he probably sang it. After that, whenever I’d go someplace, people wanted me to do Elvis, so I did...

      I'm Spider-Woman

      Posted by Orato

I'm an arachnologist - someone who studies the science of spiders. I think spiders get a bad rep, so the movie Spider-Man is a bit of much-needed positive spider-PR. Your backyard is full of spiders, and they play a very important ecological role. The public's dislike of them is unwarranted and unfortunate. If you start to appreciate how cool and diverse they are, spiders can be endlessly entertaining. Not convinced? Read on...

      I'm A Pin Up

      Posted by Orato

Heidi Van Horne was raised in Houston by two New Yorkers, and at 14 years old, she got her first speaking part in the cult film, Dazed And Confused. Thus began Heidi's love affair with the camera, counter culture and the magic of filmmaking. Before she was bit by the acting bug, Heidi had fallen for the spirit of the pin up, looking up to over-the-shoulder ladies like Betty Grable.

Photo Essay: Brutal Honesty And Uncomfortable Familiarity

      Posted by Orato

We've seen it all before. The "cute girl," the "pretty face," the "radiant smile." Blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan. BIG FAN. But it gets old after a while. Okay, I may be a bit jaded after having taken photos of over 200 women, but it just takes a lot more to hold my interest now. Sure, we've been suckered in by a pretty face, but I'd like to think I'm getting past all that. Which is why my current work has evolved into its current incarnation.

      Expiration Dates: Limited Time Love

      Posted by Orato

I love expiration dates. No, I don’t have a yogurt and cheese fetish. But I do enjoy a relationship that will not last. What kind of girl these days wants a guaranteed break-up? Who falls in love on the merit of a foreseen ending? Unfortunately, woe is me.

1985 Air India bombing : Shocking revelations

      Posted by Orato

The inquiry into the June 23, 1985 bombing of Air India flight 182 which killed 329 people off the Irish coast, mostly Canadians of Indian descent, resumed on April 30 in Ottawa, with questions of a key former Vancouver police officer whose transcribed interviews with police informants revealed the plot to bomb an Air India flight out of Montreal months before it happened.
