Hamas performs about-turn on Israeli state

Posted by Billbar from Guardian UK

Hamas has made a major political climbdown by agreeing to sections of a document that recognise Israel's right to exist and a negotiated two-state solution, according to Palestinian leaders. Lebanon Security Forces Attack Fatah

This headline is misleading. Fatah is commonly used to denote the secular bourgeois-nationalist group founded by Arafat, the largest group in the Palestine Liberation Organization, now engaged in a low level civil war in the Occupied Territories against Hamas. The group attacked by the Lebanese army is (apparently) an Islamic fundamentalist group called Fatah al-Islam.
