      Posted by theangryindian from Angryindian.blogspot

Lebanese troops have continued to clash with an armed Palestinian group at a refugee camp in northern Lebanon for a second day, security sources have said. On Monday, sources said the military had tightened its grip around the Nahr al-Bared camp and was shelling positions held by the Fatah al-Islam group at the entrances of the camp. Sources said the Lebanese army was holding back from entering the camp, home to about 40,000 Palestinian refugees, in line with a 1969 Arab agreement banning

The US House of Representatives has adopted a measure aimed at weaving closer US and Israeli defences against ballistic missiles of the type that could be fired by Iran. The measure, part of a $504 billion defence spending bill passed on Thursday, would redirect $205m in defence department funds toward projects already underway in Israel. It would provide $25m more for Arrow missile co-production and integration, $45m for a US-Israeli short-range missile defence system dubbed "David's Slin

      BBC: Nasrallah voices Israel respect

      Posted by theangryindian from Angryindian.blogspot

The leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon has said he respects Israel for issuing such a damning report on last year's war against Hezbollah fighters. This headline is misleading. Fatah is commonly used to denote the secular bourgeois-nationalist group founded by Arafat, the largest group in the Palestine Liberation Organization, now engaged in a low level civil war in the Occupied Territories against Hamas. The group attacked by the Lebanese army is (apparently) an Islamic fundamentalist group called Fatah al-Islam.
