N.Y. plans to recognize gay marriages

As California set a date for gay couples to begin getting married in the state, it was revealed Wednesday that New York's governor has ordered state agencies to begin recognizing gay marriages performed in states and countries where they're legal.

Mr. Paterson said that he and his wife had sought counseling and had since resolved their marital problems. “Actually,” he said, “I think we have a marriage like many Americans, maybe even like many of you.”
