      Peruvian voters returned Alan Garcia to the presidency, betting he will spur the economy and not repeat mistakes of his past administration that led to a debt default and surging inflation in the 1980's. "The vote was a defeat for Chavez's expansionist plans that he is trying to implement in South America, his attempts to annex us to his retrograde model,'' Garcia said.

      Mummy of Tattooed Woman Discovered in Peru Pyramid

      An exquisitely preserved and elaborately tattooed mummy of a young woman has been discovered deep inside a mud-brick pyramid in northern Peru. The 1,500-year-old mummy may shed new light on the mysterious Moche culture, which occupied Peru's northern coastal valleys from about A.D. 100 to 800.

      "Pirana", a former Peruvian army sergeant who fought the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) Maoist guerrillas in the jungles of Peru in the 1990s, decided at the last minute not to travel to Iraq with around 200 former members of the military and police recruited by the U.S.-based private security firm Triple Canopy. "My mom convinced me not to go," Pirana told IPS on condition of anonymity. "She told me she would prefer to see me poor but alive rather than dead for a handful of dollars."

    I just found this on your newscloud site. thanks for posting that! I have been working on begining connections in the non-profit world and the international community. Let me know if you know people who may be interested in the work I am doing.

    come to our first fundraiser on Saturday, December 6. It shoudl be a lot of fun, 3 live bands, auctioning off some small items and lots of promotion for my organization. Come and bring some friends!
