      I’m a walking conversation piece, but it’s my own fault. I am the one who chose to have a vine of fuchsia running from the front of my left shoulder down to the middle of the left side of my back, morning glories and tiger lilies blooming up from my right pelvic bone to the top of my ribcage, and my mantra inscribed on the inside of my right wrist.

      B.C. aboriginal groups out in full force on day of action

      "We're seeking to raise the awareness amongst the general public to understand the need to get on with the business of settling outstanding land rights issues, and other outstanding issues that contribute to the growing and deepening poverty in First Nations and aboriginal communities," he said. "We want to see the process of resolving land claims accelerated," he said. "We want support to ensure that the social support services are in place and properly funded. And it hasn't been to this time."

There is a sense of the overwhelming need for not only for real change in the US, but also a real change in how we operate as organizations, movements and people working towards social change.

    this happened about 40 miles from my home. . .it’s more proof that racism in this country is just as strong and virulent as ever; it’s merely sublimated.  me, ah’m jes’ the po’ ol’ sonuvashahcroppah. . .but i remember a few things. . .

    think about it. . .immigration was no problem, except in california in the early-mid 90’s. . .we laughed it off. . .and then came the big boogeyman:  911. 

    people got scared, as they always do.  everyone who wasn’t white-and many who werewere targeted.  and the most visible nonwhite population includes hispanic immigrants.  fifteen years ago it was calculated that the southwestincluding texaswould be precominantly hispanic around this time. 

    since virtually no terrorists have been foundnone that can be proven as terrorists-nonwhites make great scapegoats.  and the good old boy gets to indulge in all his racial fantasies.  911 allowed everyone to indulge their hidden racism.  muslims. . .hispanics. . .blacks. . .

    it won’t end for at least another 400 years. . .
