      Don Imus returns to airwaves

      Posted by Jeff from MSNBC

Imus’ lineup of guests featured two presidential hopefuls, Democrat Chris Dodd and Republican John McCain. As he did several times in the days after the episode, Imus condemned his controversial remark last spring and said he had learned his lesson.

Real heroes refuse to shut up and sing

      Posted by VincebusEruptum from Scholarsandrogues

'The US vs. John Lennon' chronicles the egregious lengths the US gov't went to in order to silence an artist who had the audacity to speak out. Of course, Lennon came from an age when artists did that sort of thing, and he wasn't the only one to get on the authorities' nerves. But we don't live in that world anymore...

      Furor rages despite Imus’ apology

      Posted by Jeff from MSNBC

I'm with Sharpton. Imus should go: “I accept his apology, just as I want his bosses to accept his resignation,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton. He promised to picket Imus’ New York radio home, WFAN-AM, unless the veteran of nearly 40 years of anything-goes broadcasting is gone within a week. MSNBC should drop his show. Other media outlets can't have it both ways. They can't employ a racist for a radio show and then express regret at his remarks...repeatedly.

A Fee Per Song Can Ruin Us, Internet Radio Companies Say

Posted by Jeff from New York Times

Under the ruling released on March 2, Web broadcasters must pay each time a listener hears a song, at a rate that began at 0.08 cent in 2006 (the ruling applies retroactively) and rises to 0.19 cent in 2010. Besides increasing the charge for each song, the ruling established a $500 minimum payment for each Web channel — making it difficult for companies like RealNetworks and Pandora to offer as many different kinds of music as they do now.

Air America Radio Host Randi Rhodes Suspended for Calling Clinton and Ferraro "Whores"

Meanwhile, Hillary’s camp praises Fox for the most ‘balanced’ news coverage, and for a ton of supposedly-democratic Hillaryites, no alarm bells are sounded. This whole cycle has gone right out of hand with the absurd disconnections from reality and unnecessarily puffed up emotions.

I will say I was disgusted to see Ferraro on Fox News again today. No intelligent politician – nor any democrat should spend a second on that set.
