Between 1978 and 2007 China saw its economy increase by nine times thus becoming the first exporter in the world, the second oil importer and a member of the "gotha" of super potencies. But this picture is not as grandiose as it appears because it is the achievement of a country that apparently refuses to respect the minimal rules adopted by the majority of the other countries.

More than 2 weeks after Cyclone Nargis, Than Shwe and friends have decided to allow its South Asian neighbors to send medical personnel and an assessment team into Burma, in order to appease the continuing international outcry.

Just enough of a concession to avoid being invaded for the mass murder they are in the process of committing.

Bush administration releases report on terror threat: A new pretext for militarism and repression

A new National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), a report that synthesizes the findings of Washington’s 16 separate spy agencies, warns that the US faces a “heightened threat environment” for terrorist attacks. The Bush administration’s release of the report strongly suggests that the US government is seeking to justify new military interventions in both Pakistan and Iran, as well as stepped up domestic surveillance and other forms of state repression at home.

“Enemy Combatant” Designation Ruled Bogus

It’s a wonder it took that long — five years for a U.S. federal court finally to declare the designation of “enemy combatant,” at least when it’s slapped on lawful residents of the United States, null and void. If the government wants to hold terrorists in the United States, it must charge them with a crime—or release them, as it will have to do with Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri.
