    • Review of Discovery Institute's Evolution Textbook

      Posted by Jeff

Intelligent Design is still a hot topic, as evidenced by recent legislation mandating that it be taught in school. Pro-ID group Discovery Institute has released an evolution textbook for use in schools, but a review shows it to be chock full of bad science and questionable reasoning. 'The book doesn't only promote stupidity, it demands it. In every way except its use of the actual term, this is a creationist book, but its authors are expecting that legislators and the courts will be too stupid to notice that, or to remember that the Supreme Court has declared teaching creationism an unconstitutional imposition of religion.'

    • Putting the rights of nature in Ecuador's constitution

Posted by Jeff from Los Angeles Times

It sounds like a stunt by the San Francisco City Council. But Ecuador is engaged in nothing less than an effort to redefine the relationship between human beings and the natural world. And as crazy as it may seem, the movement to give nature legal rights didn't start in Ecuador's Amazon forest or its Galapagos Islands -- it started years ago in the United States, in cities and towns seeking to fight off coal mines, incinerators and factory farms. Aided by the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund in Pennsylvania, about a dozen municipalities have abandoned the old-fashioned way of halting development -- through the appeals process -- and are placing outright bans on environmentally disruptive activities.

Radovan Karadzic Proud of Srebrenica Genocide

      Posted by srebrenicagenocideinfo

Karadzic, 63, was making only his second public appearance since his arrest late last month ended 13 years on the run. The hearing is a crucial step along the path to Karadzic's trial for masterminding the worst atrocities perpetrated by Serb forces in the 1992-95 Bosnian war. Earlier, Karadzic's legal adviser Svetozar Vujacic had forecast: "There is also a possibility that Karadzic will plead not guilty to all 11 counts as well as say that he is proud of what he did."

United States Sanctioned Massacre of Korean Civilians

If Korean civilians are murdered in a forest and no one hears them fall, is it really a massacre?
