    • Karl Rove Re-Aligned

      Posted by Jeff from Alternet

Under Rove, the Republicans have compressed the 30-year arc of a century ago into a scant six years. And now the party's over. The Democrats may still be unsure what they stand for, but in terms of campaign strategy they have successfully played catch-up.

Rove 'dukes it out' with NPR host over polling data

      Posted by Jeff from Rawstory

Rove said that he was reviewing 68 polls a week, and that "unlike the general public, I'm allowed to see the polls on the individual races," as opposed to public polls reported in the media. "You may be looking at four or five public polls a week that talk about attitudes nationally, but that do not impact the outcome," Rove said.

The name of the end game, it seems, is "localizing" the races by smearing Democratic challengers with the products of the Republican oppo research extravaganza, backed up by that $100 million the Emperor Karl was talking about. This clearly was part of the plan all along, but what's striking is the degree to which the reptiles have scoured the closets for any hint of sexual misconduct (or just plain conduct) on the part of their intended targets. After all, it's just the standard Rovian tactic of attacking your enemy for your very own sins, and then persuading various corporate media suck asses (the Mark Halperins of this world) to write that you've miraculously managed to turn a weakness into a strength.

Rove Asked Mark Foley to Run Again This Year

Posted by Jeff from The New Republic

According to the source, Foley said he was being pressured by "the White House and Rove gang," who insisted that Foley run. If he didn't, Foley was told, it might impact his lobbying career. "He said, 'The White House made it very clear I have to run,'" explains Foley's friend, adding that Foley told him that the White House promised that if Foley served for two more years it would "enhance his success" as a lobbyist.

Karl Rove Vacations in Yalta with Georgian President Saakashvili

What, precisely, was Karl Rove doing in Yalta just before the Georgian-Russian conflict?  Please don’t tell us that it was coincidental.  Premature/Thom Hartmann – why doesn’t the corporate media pick this up and run with it?  Things I hear on Air America stations that turn out to be true are always downplayed by the big guys.  Anyone who has to do with any aspect of the Bush administration gets a by if the news bite looks like it will bite a Republican.

Unless totally up to no good, there is no reason on earth why a schlock like Rove should be any where near a Georgian president. Vacationing, my foot! This is undoubtedly the biggest national and perhaps internaional rat of the last century.

Tom D'Antoni: It's Outrageous That Rove Is Walking Free on The Huffington Post

Well, let’s hope the Seargent of arms will be sent to his doorstep next week. Although there was a embarassing story about Rangell on the front page of the NYT today. Apparently, he has four rent controlled apartments in NYC.

I always find it odd, but how can anything be "tainted" by "profit motive" in a capitalist society? Public displays of altruism would equally face scorn for McClellan, whether it was Arianna Huffington or Sean Hannity. What matters finally is the work, whether it has something that is historically sustainable. Work that is useful can be produced by scoundrels. Opera still performs Richard Wagner, does it not?

BeerDoctor, I still think McClellan was so dishonest and evasive as spokesman that his attempts to come clean here are not better late than never but tainted instead by profit motive.

If he really wanted to do good, he should donate 75% of the book’s proceeds to charity and erase the unseemliness of speaking out now to promote book sales.

Much of the complaints from the left about McClellan’s book seem to miss the main point. This is a memoir from a disillusioned true believer of George W Bush, who’s roots go all the way back to Texas. How strange that the White House and their minions speak of disloyalty, who they themselves  deliberately instructed McClellan to lie to the American people.
Whatever money is made from the book, that is a ridiculous attempt to discredit the content. The rants at Fox News claim McClellan was just in it for the money. That is truly rich, from a crowd that has made a thriving cottage industry marketing nonsense.
