      U.S. imposes new sanctions against Sudan

      President Bush on Tuesday ordered U.S. sanctions tightened against Sudan's government for its refusal to stop the violence in the Darfur region. In brief remarks, Bush followed through on a threat made six weeks ago to pursue tougher action against a government that he said was complicit in the bombing and rape of innocent civilians.

      Ozone hole may be gone by 2050 - Environment

      Strike a blow for the efficacy of global environmental treaties. In the early to mid-90’s, industrialized nations agreed to sharply curb their use of CFCs in air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. Atmospheric CFC levels have been dropping ever since, and new models indicate the ozone layer may begin to heal itself. Now I wonder what OTHER environmental problem might benefit from an international treaty involving the US…. hmmm….
