    • GOP Senators Support Implementation of Official Secret’s Act

      Posted by Billbar

Senators Rick Santorum, R-PA, and Conrad Burns, R-MT, support implementation of Official Secret’s Act, S.3774, introduced yesterday by Senator Christopher Bond, R-MO, to criminalize the unauthorized disclosure of classified information. The legislation seeks to unify current law and ease the government's burden in prosecuting and punishing leakers by eliminating the need to prove that damage to the national security has or will result from a disclosure. The United States has never had a statute generally criminalizing leaks or the publication of sensitive information.

Outback buys Santorum lunch, gets lucky afterwards

      Posted by Billbar from Attytood

Amidst the minimum wage/ estate tax talk... Here's another catch that is not getting the attention that it deserves. If the current bill become law, thousands of the hardest-working Americans -- restaurant wait staffers, in particular, and others who collect substantial tips -- in a number of states will be getting a pay cut! Who wins here? Big restaurant chains like the Outback Steakhouses, of Bloomin' Onion fame, which was pushing for this very change in the federal law at the same time it was throwing a big-fundraiser for that measure's most prominent backer in the Senate, Pa. Sen. Rick Santorum -- a fundraiser that was held within hours, by the way, of his now infamous trip to Terri Schiavo's hospice.

Santorum donors give to Green Party

Posted by Jeff from Philadelphia Inquirer

Fourteen Santorum supporters gave $40,000 to fund a petition drive that has allowed Carl Romanelli to collect about 100,000 voter signatures to qualify for the Senate race. That's 33,000 more signatures than required, and double what independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader gathered here in 2004. But Romanelli and the Green Party of Luzerne County, which collected the money, might have violated federal election law in the process.
