      Researcher Finds 'Monogamy Gene'

      Posted by Billbar from 11Alive

Prairie voles are monogamous, while meadow voles aren't. Emory associate professor doctor Larry Young and his team found a gene in a part of the prairie vole's brain that wasn't in the corresponding part of the meadow vole's brain. When he put that gene into the meadow vole, guess what happened? It became -- monogamous. Humans have that same monogamy gene.

Hollywood's One Remaining Taboo Found in "Black Snake Moan"

Posted by Damianmann from New York Times

According to John Singleton, the writer and director of "Boyz N the Hood" and other films, who personally financed "Hustle" and is one of the producers of "Black Snake," any clamor about the sexual politics surrounding Mr. Brewer's films misses a larger point. "Hollywood doesn't just have a problem with people of color having sex on-screen," Mr. Singleton said. "It's uptight about anybody having sex."

Bama Congressman and Obama Campaign Co-Chair Punts to Preachers on Same Sex Insurance Benefits

One of the many tragedies of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina three years ago was the fact that insurance companies used the event to systematically deny claims, leaving victims further in desperate straits. That shouldn’t happen following any natural disaster, and even though the immediate storm effects did not cause as much damage as predicted, there are sure to be plenty of claims for flood damages throughout the Midwest and along Gustav’s path. If you or someone you know has been denied an insurance claim related to Gustav: that would be a site you should visit.
