      Sharpton owes $1.5 million in back taxes

      Over the past year, Sharpton's lawyers and the staff of his nonprofit group, the National Action Network, have been negotiating with the federal government over the size of his debt, which they dispute. The group has also been trying to pay off tens of thousands of dollars it owes for failing to properly maintain workers compensation and unemployment insurance.

      Furor rages despite Imus’ apology

      I'm with Sharpton. Imus should go: “I accept his apology, just as I want his bosses to accept his resignation,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton. He promised to picket Imus’ New York radio home, WFAN-AM, unless the veteran of nearly 40 years of anything-goes broadcasting is gone within a week. MSNBC should drop his show. Other media outlets can't have it both ways. They can't employ a racist for a radio show and then express regret at his remarks...repeatedly.

This time around, a chastened Democratic party is fighting back with its biggest weapons: chief among them Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. “We didn’t see it coming this last time. We didn’t see them using the church and the morals of the church to win votes,” Sharpton says.
