  Speed cameras in the Scottish Borders may soon be monitored by security cameras to protect them from vandals. Then, I suppose we need still other cameras to protect the camera-watching cameras.

  Recently released figures have shown the shockingly low rate of convictions for rape in the UK. The average conviction rate is now 5.29% - this means that for every 100 reported rapes (and remember there are always more rapes occur than are reported) the number of perpetrators found and convicted is 5.

  When the state engineered new product manufacture controls I knew my days of (occasional) Liquid Paper and felt-tip sniffing were over. I let that one go. But the growing belief that most of us may soon need rescuing from our increasing "technology-influenced behavior" patterns may well become the next bee in the nanny-state's bonnet.
