      Wal-Mart can't take a trick. The world's biggest retailer seems to lurch from one screw-up to another. Now the New York City comptroller's office is demanding that the Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission investigate the company for illegally spying on its shareholders and critics.

      I called Tice over the weekend, but he hasn't called me back. Of course, the stakes for him are high -- as CongressDaily's Chris Strohm wrote in May, "Tice would not discuss. . . the details of his allegations, saying doing so would compromise classified information and put him at risk of going to jail." He would say only that "It's an angle that you haven't heard about yet."

    • Most Americans Support NSA's Efforts

      The new survey found that 63 percent of Americans said they found the NSA program to be an acceptable way to investigate terrorism, including 44 percent who strongly endorsed the effort. Another 35 percent said the program was unacceptable, which included 24 percent who strongly objected to it. When The Washington Post says it, it must be true...he said sarcastically.
