      “Enemy Combatant” Designation Ruled Bogus

Posted by ptristam from Pierre Tristam

It’s a wonder it took that long — five years for a U.S. federal court finally to declare the designation of “enemy combatant,” at least when it’s slapped on lawful residents of the United States, null and void. If the government wants to hold terrorists in the United States, it must charge them with a crime—or release them, as it will have to do with Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri.

Torturers in Camouflage: The U.S. Military, Ethical Hellhole

Posted by ptristam from Pierre Tristam

Almost half of American soldiers in Iraq think torture should be allowed to save the life of another soldier, and 39 percent of Marines and 36 percent of Army soldiers think it should be allowed merely to gather information on insurgents. Barely a third of Marines think civilians should be treated with dignity. That’s your military, America--by the Pentagon’s own accounting. And the mass media buried it or left it unreported.

Srebrenica Genocide - Europe's Worst Genocide Since the Holocaust

...By the evening of July 11, some 25-30,000 were clamouring at the high wire gates of the Dutch compound, but the UN troops — who had been assured by Mladic that buses would be sent to ferry them to safety — would not let them in. The next day, the Serb troops waded into the pathetic, bedraggled throng of Bosnians, knives and bayonets drawn. Karadzic’s summary executions, which now extended to women and children, had begun.

One witness later described how a Serb soldier ordered a mother to stop her baby crying. When she failed, he grabbed the child, and, laughing, slit its throat….

    Srebrenica genocide, 7/11/1995.

I heard NPR talking about how Osama, if alive, would have a video for this coming Presidential election …

Seems a bit odd that the worlds media didn’t jump on this news, given that this whole era of ‘the war on terror’ is alledgedly down to this one individual.

Terror Watch List Now Exceeds One Million Names

Isn’t this the definition of McCarthyism? I mean at one million names, that’s probably a pretty good chance that we’re all in the midst of alleged terrorists.

Still, if this can cut down the number of people flying, I’m all for it.
