The primary problem with this is that NIST will not share it’s data with the public, which as you know, is crucial to giving any validity to their claims. They base most of their conclusions on black box computer models in which they tweak variables to meet their conclusions. Chemist Kevin Ryan and Dr. Jones has written extensively about this here:

Further, their recent wtc7 report does the same thing, and in fact ignores crucial evidence which i’ve already mentioned; namely, the presense of motlen metal plus NASA satellite images showing temperatures on the order of 1400 F weeks after the 11th (office fires NIST acknowleges didn’t reach above 500-600 degrees whereas the melting point of steel is around 2700 degrees F), temperatures far higher than office fires can reach, as well as the presence of forensic data showing the residue of thermite. Don’t forget also that they don’t explain the near free fall speed at which building 7 fell, indicating universal and symmetrical failure of all columns simultaneously.

The idea that random office fires can coordinate itself to cause immediate, universal and symmetrical collapse of a tall building straight down into its own foot print in near free fall speed is beyond ridiculous. At that point, any reasonable scientist will demand data or simply ridicule such a conclusion. NIST won’t let us see their computer models, so all we have left is ridicule and much better hypotheses (controlled demolition).

I’m not a chemist or a forensic anything. I have a moldy biology degree and that’s about it. I actually started out being interested in the 911truth arguments and quite willing to hear them. Obviously I’ve since changed my mind.

I suppose the only reasonable thing to do here is to have agitkid, Dr. Stevens, et al., on one side of the gym debate floor and the army of engineers and scientsists who say (Ummm… no.) on the other side of the debate floor.

I’m a chemist. I’ve used various forms of spectroscopy. the results of Dr. Steven Jones’ work using XEDS (x-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy) showing the key forensic signature of thermite is daming evidence for the presence of a modified high explosive for this incendiary, including the presence of molten metal in the form of iron rich microspheres. Nothing explained by NIST can be considered anything but a coverup. Also, don’t take koroth’s word for it, go and actually listen to the press conference i posted above and engage them with your questions.

Actually, I’ve done a lot of research into it. The towers and associated buildings dropped due to airplane impacts and associated fire and impact/collapse effects. That’s been pretty conclusively proven by a whole lot of engineers, metallurgists, and other pretty smart people. That steel beams will fail under moderately high temps has been adequately demonstrated.

The, um, alternative conclusions have been shown to be wrong.

This won’t silence the usual crowd, but it’s good that these guys did this report.

I think that a lot of building developers and engineers have learned a lot since 9/11. Hopefully they put it to good use with their next developments.

This story is very suspicious … the neocons seem bent on sweeping this one under the rug before the administration changes. The alleged ‘suicide’ is most convenient and the lack of any real facts around this case smells pretty bad …

The ‘Justice" Department is run by who?  And who appointed him? And who were the targets of the anthrax attacks  ...  Democrats and Tom Brokaw, in case you’ve all forgotten.
