      Powerful X-ray machine debuts in Phoenix

      The so-called "backscatter" technology has been controversial, with critics saying the high-resolution images are too invasive. But the Transportation Security Administration adjusted the machine's images so the normally graphic pictures can be blurred in certain areas while still being effective at detecting concealed weapons or other threats.

      Mount Baker: All Terrain and No Hype

      Washington State's Mount Baker was featured in the New York Times' Escape column this week. It was written up with the sort of Mad River Glen-esque - all terrain no frills angle. To be honest, I've only boarded there once. It's far enough from Seattle that I typically prefer to drive a bit further to go to Whistler.
