Couple Reiterate Claims They Were Punished

Posted by Billbar from Washington Post

Former U.S. ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV and his wife, former CIA officer Valerie Plame, said yesterday that Vice President Cheney, presidential adviser Karl Rove and other administration officials knowingly lied and abused their power to get revenge against the couple for criticizing President Bush's rationale for going to war in Iraq. Plame, at a joint appearance with her husband at the National Press Club, said she would "much rather" be a CIA operative than a plaintiff in a lawsuit. She said that she and Wilson, both of whom had worked in government for years, filed the suit with "heavy hearts." Wilson said the couple were under "no illusions about how tough this fight will be." But, he said, "the time has come to hold those who use their official positions to exact personal revenge accountable and responsible for their actions."

      Well, Lookee Here...

Lookee here, Junior was willing to do pretty much anything to save his own ass from being tarred with the liar brush – but when he got cornered on the lies, he dispatched the mean team. There’s a whole lot of throwing under the bus going on in the finger-pointing mess of ass-covering mendacity, isn’t there?

    • Waas: Bush Directed Cheney To Counter War Critic

      Posted by Billbar from news.nationaljournal

Looks like Bush has found the leaker... President Bush told the special prosecutor in the CIA leak case that he directed Vice President Dick Cheney to personally lead an effort to counter allegations made by former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV that his administration had misrepresented intelligence information to make the case to go to war with Iraq, according to people familiar with the president's statement.

    • The Cocktail That Saved Rove's Ass

It's been a week since Patrick Fitzgerald decided that he couldn't make the case against Karl Rove, and I'm amazed that more hasn't been made of the role Viveca Novak played in Rove's narrow escape from indictment. She was his human stay-out-of-jail-free card. The sad truth is that Novak's perfidy did more to stymie the indictment of Karl Rove than anything else.

If this is true, it's an important piece of the puzzle. -- And that Novak has been lying.

Joseph Wilson made it clear a while ago that they would be doing this. I'm glad to see it happen, though.

Thi is very interesting. I wish CT wouldn't let more than one article about the same thing....or even the same article exactly...be published twice. you were first on this , from what I can tell. But CT allowed me to post it again
