    • US big business funnels hundreds of millions into presidential campaigns

      Posted by theangryindian

With the 2008 US presidential election still more than 17 months away, and primaries not scheduled until next year, a “money primary” is well under way to separate the “serious” candidates—those with the most support from corporate America—from the rest. Largely concealed from public view, Democratic and Republican candidates have been touring the country at a hectic pace, holding lavish fundraising dinners and meeting with wealthy individuals in state after state. Early last month, Senate Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin (D-MI) released a declassified version of a Pentagon Inspector General report that found that in Sept. 2002, Undersecretary of Defense Douglas Feith gave a briefing entitled “Assessing the Relationship Between Iraq and al-Qaida” to Vice President Cheney’s chief of staff. In this “alternative” intelligence assessment, Feith asserted that Osama Bin Laden’s al-Hijra Company had business “contacts” with a Dutch company, V

      Posted by theangryindian from Angryindian.blogspot

The US House of Representatives has adopted a measure aimed at weaving closer US and Israeli defences against ballistic missiles of the type that could be fired by Iran. The measure, part of a $504 billion defence spending bill passed on Thursday, would redirect $205m in defence department funds toward projects already underway in Israel. It would provide $25m more for Arrow missile co-production and integration, $45m for a US-Israeli short-range missile defence system dubbed "David's Slin

An American soldier was killed inside Pakistan yesterday after an attempted peace meeting on one of the world’s most sensitive borders erupted in gunfire. Several other Nato troops were wounded amid sensational claims that Pakistani forces were responsible. Pakistan said that one of its troops also died in the clash, but blamed militants for the shooting. The meeting had been convened after two days of skirmishes across the border with Afghanistan left 13 dead. US and Afghan forces had t

      Neo-Conservatives insensitive to American Jews

      Posted by theangryindian from Angryindian.blogspot

The neo-conservative elements in major corporate media have crossed the line many times, but after the Michael Richards fiasco, Don Imus and everything in-between, here is Debbie Schlussel and Glenn Beck making comparisons to the German National Socialist Party and their opposite numbers in news media. One would think that the Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish watchdog groups would be up in arms over this. As of yet, this reporter has not heard nor seen anything in the American Jewish p
