- Karzai blames Britain for return of Taliban

  "Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accused British troops of making the security situation worse in parts of southern Afghanistan, saying the area "suffered" after their arrival." ...On reading his statement, it looks to me like Karzai also blamed the U.S. military, but I suppose since only the U.K. dignified his statement with a response only they are getting the focus.

  But it seems risky for a global company to even lightheartedly link spirituality and military themes during a U.S. war in the Middle East that has outraged much of the world. Especially a company that's trying to stay tight with the Bush administration while building its presence in developing countries.

  I chose a life in the military to follow in my father's footsteps and because I really wanted to feel like I "earned" my freedom by helping to protect it. Following these footsteps has involved a number of sacrifices. I'm watching my two-year-old son grow up in pictures, missing birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. But even more than that, my faith in humanity has suffered a pretty significant hit. You can't see the things we see and not wonder about our species...
