      Cnet is reporting that Dell will shortly announce a partnership with Canonical to offer Ubuntu pre-loaded on certain consumer-oriented desktops and notebooks.     I still think the amount of memory and power you need will rule out the upgrade for many existing PC owners. I tell all my friends to buy Macs now.
